Checking the Network Connection

After you find the IP address of the instrument, from the ChromLab computer verify

that the instrument can be accessed through the network.

To check the network connection

1. On the ChromLab computer, open a Command Prompt window.

2. At the prompt, type

> ping x.x.x.x

where x.x.x.x is the IP addr

ess of the instrument.

Tip: The IP address for an NGC instrument that is directly connected to

the Chr

omLab computer begins with the number sequence 169.254.

 If the network connection is set up correctly, you see results similar to the

following image. The ChromLab computer should be able to connect to the

NGC instrument.
